What We Do

Leeds TiE was founded in 1993 as the theatre in education company to provide a high quality, innovative educational theatre service. The Company currently consists of three full time staff, who create and deliver the programmes and a part-time Administrator.

We specialise in producing cross community educational theatre programmes for school pupils and staff, disadvantaged and disaffected children, young people, adults and the professionals who work with them.

We devise our own projects and pieces and frequently work in collaboration with other theatre companies, drama therapists and a range of specialists working with people living in challenging circumstances – providing a high impact intervention to support organisations tackling social exclusion.

Programmes are usually delivered to existing groups, with their support workers and in their own space (community centre, hostel, school etc) or in a professional space. All our plays are suitable for adult community groups, children and young people – in and out of a school setting – professional groups and conferences. We use the world of the play to enable groups to safely explore sensitive issues through discussion, creative group work and drama.

We work with:

• Homeless people
• Parents’ groups
• Women’s groups
• Bail and probation hostel residents
• Refugees
• Excluded pupils
• At risk pupils/ young people
• Mainstream school pupils
• Professionals as part of CPD programmes
• Anyone else who would benefit from our service
